manuscript map in a contemporary hand showing a "Map of the route marched by 5th Regt P.R.v.C.(?) Starts in Falls Church June 23, 1863. Arrives in Gettysburg "Battle fought" July 1-2-3-1863. Manasses Gap "Battle fought" and ends at FayettvilleAug. 4, 1863. Map is H 12-1/4" W 7-3/4".  Must have been drawn by a soldier in the regiment with the knowledge of the movements of the Regiment to the fateful battlefield.  Rare period map. 

 

The monument to the 5th Pennsylvania Reserves is south of Gettysburg on the summit of Big Round Top. The parking area and trailhead for the 350 yard trail to the summit is on South Confederate Avenue about 1.3 miles east of Emmitsburg Road. South Confederate Avenue is one way eastbound. (39°47’11.2″N 77°14’20.6″W)
